Posture Program
This lifestyle program is designed for the person who is interested in making positive change to their posture and managing posture related issues whether at work, study or home. It can help you improve your balance, tone and control improving your alignment and movement in daily function.
The purpose of the program is to identify positive and negative areas of your posture and aid you in making the necessary changes.
Once your current posture type is established an assessment of your risk factors, strengths and
weaknesses is undertaken and a remedial program is developed for you to help make the necessary changes. The next stage is to progress your remedial exercise program to continue the changes you have made to your posture.
What support do I receive through this?
You have an initial assessment and two follow up reviews staged through the program. We are always available for questions via email or telephone throughout the program. At any time you may book an extra review with us if you have any concerns during the program.
What is the process?
Initial Assessment
Interview to establish your goals from the program and any relevant injury history.
A posture specific muscle imbalance assessment is undertaken. This helps us identify any areas of weakness, poor control or lack of motion that may put you at risk.
An assessment of your postural alignment.
Advice regarding postural changes to avoid pain at work, study or with daily activity.
Manual therapy as required to improve your spinal motion and alignment.
From these assessments a prehabilitation program is designed for you to address your postural alignment.
You will then usually spend between three and six weeks undertaking your prehabilitation program prior to your next review.
1st Follow-up Assessment
Your biomechanics will be reassessed to review your progress with the prehabilitation exercises. Progressions of these exercises will be established for you to continue with in stage two of the program.
Spinal motion will be reassessed and manual therapy used as required.
2nd Follow-up Assessment
A second review of your prehabilitation exercise progress is done and your exercises modified if required.
Manual therapy as required to improve your spinal motion and alignment.
